How the insurgency abroad affects politics at home

With the success of the Northern Petania offensive driving insurgents back, the conflict reflects differently in the mainland. Various electoral hopefuls have ben quick to use the conflict as a rallying point, for support and criticism. Responses to the war range from outright opposition, to calls for transparency, to patriotic support. On 24 March, Gaplan government officials confirmed the signing of a treaty binding the Sultanate of Perimata to the nation as a freely associated state. Almost a week later, Perimata seperated. This was due to Gaplan officials failing to meet the requests of the Perimatan government, which Gapla claimed to be due to a lack of waiting (false, as proven by the Commonwealth). So Perimata joined the Laskaridian CommonwealthAssociation, also binding us to a conflict an ocean away. Laskaridian forces were deployed the day after, and as news, media and opinions trickled into the Laskaridian mainstream medias, it caused confusion and a rosy patriotic response. One of the most critical voices has been that of Esty Carpentieri, as leader of the progressive party. Carpentieri has vocally stated that transparency is necessary, and has made pleas to the armed forces as well as the government for reports informing the Laskaridians on a war they are fighting. But has the government and military met these requests? Sources in the Public Force as well as the Intelligence Agency are believed to drafting a report, which is due to arrive and be declassified soon. Meanwhile, we asked top candidates, and commonwealth officials about the war. Sir Benjamin Levinson, the Marquess Rexford stated that he wasn't sure what to do with a war, as High Comissioner of Olam, commonwealth states seem to be united in a resolution underway to pledge support for the royal Kedah Company. We asked Andrew Perdomo, Chancellorial candidate and leader of the CDP, and he said he would work with government parties to keep Laskaridia free of communism. Tolerantia voiced a more extreme alternative, pledging to "ban" opposition parties, which was met with uncertainty and a need for elaboration from citizens. Laskaridians remain at the ready, should the war permeate the mainland, with the Seneschal of Castyre making a statement, "Saint Michael, pray for us! Keep the evil hands of communism and sin away from us!" a statement that was adopted into a poster by CDP-legislator Sir Joseph Leopold-Almeida.
